I red this book in more than 2 months, not because I had no time to read, or because it was too complicated, but simply because I didn’t want to finish the book. The “old” version certainly is a bit out-of-date, but the added chapter (chapter 13: still hooked on bass! – especially the part “Alan Vaughan bringing things up to date”) makes up for it. It was a pleasure to read the book, but also to see the change in mentality between the bass-fisher of the 20est century and the bass-fisher of the 21st century. Anyway, there is something “magic” about this book, about all the knowledge you can find in it, about the way this knowledge is passed on… and about the fishing-stories the authors share with us, readers.

One of my favourite books on the topic. Nicely written, good tips&trics, lots of insight in the fish and the technics, some really nice pictures and funy anecdotes or great stories… This book and “Hooked on Bass” are definetely in my top 3 sea-bass books… Read it during the winter to keep you dreaming about next spring and your next bass… and meanwhile you’ll be sharpening your skill’s and knowledge so to be ready and armed next spring…

This document is a “MUST-READ” for all the bass-anglers, not only the ones from England and Wales, but also from other European Countries. It is detailed and clear and states what is wrong and how we could realisticly solve this. I really enjoyed reading this document – not only did it confirm many thing’s I allready suspected, but it used real data to clarify the actual situation and the evolution (past-present-future). The outcome of this data is extremely clear and there should be appropriate legislation in all of the European Countries in order to protect and preserve “our bass” and even in order to stimulate it (as well in quantity as in quality/size). Really you must read this and realize that, with a decent program such as proposed in this document, EVERYONE COULD BE A WINNER: the bass-anglers because they catch more and bigger fish, the professional fishermen because they earn more with less effort and time, the government because they have more income and less expences… How come such regulations hasn’t been adopted on an European level is – for me – uncomprehensible… especially when you see how well such regulations have proven to be working in other countries.

Ce livre n’a pas volé son nom, c’est vraiment le “Grand” livre du bar. Nous conseillons vivement ce livre à tous les pêcheurs de bar Français ou comprenant le Français. Ce livre vous offre beaucoup d’informations détaillées sur la vie et le comportement du bar. Merci Arnaud pour cet ouvrage.

Un petit livre sympa. Surtout le vocabulaire fort riche et varie rendait ce livre agreable a lire. Malheureusement fort dirige vers la peche (sportive) du bar a partir de bateaux en Mediterrane.

Ce livre n’a pas volé son titre, c’est vraiment une petite encyclopedie de toutes les sortes de pêche du bar. Pêche par pêche est détaillée en quelques lignes voire même quelques pages. A chaque fois un dessin clair montre le montage spécifique pour chaque forme ou type de pêche. On vous explique aussi ou et quand cette technique a le plus de chances de succès. Le livre se lit rapidement et vous donnera des nouvelles inspirations (“Pourquoi ne pas essaier cette technique-ci ou ce montage-la aujourd’hui?”). Le format pratique permet aux débutant de prendre le livre avec lui lors de ses sorties.
Comme l’éditeur à choissi de ne pas incorporer de nombreuses photos couleur, ou beaucoup de grandes illustrations mais plutôt de garder le tout sobre et dans un petit format, le livre est vendu à tres bon prix (Prix public: 8,11 euro). Ceci n’est pas un livre qu’on achete pour le déposer sur la cheminée sans jamais le feuilleter. C’est un livre qu’on emploie, voire même qu’on étudie, pour avoir à sa disposition plus de techniques qui permettent de prendre du bar!
