This document is a “MUST-READ” for all the bass-anglers, not only the ones from England and Wales, but also from other European Countries. It is detailed and clear and states what is wrong and how we could realisticly solve this. I really enjoyed reading this document – not only did it confirm many thing’s I allready suspected, but it used real data to clarify the actual situation and the evolution (past-present-future). The outcome of this data is extremely clear and there should be appropriate legislation in all of the European Countries in order to protect and preserve “our bass” and even in order to stimulate it (as well in quantity as in quality/size). Really you must read this and realize that, with a decent program such as proposed in this document, EVERYONE COULD BE A WINNER: the bass-anglers because they catch more and bigger fish, the professional fishermen because they earn more with less effort and time, the government because they have more income and less expences… How come such regulations hasn’t been adopted on an European level is – for me – uncomprehensible… especially when you see how well such regulations have proven to be working in other countries.

Une “encyclopedie” des poissons de mer avec, par poisson, les sujets suivants: une description (avec dessin) de la morphologie du poisson, une systématique et évolution du poisson, la biologie du poisson et “la pêche sportive”, ainsi qu’un “cladogramme” et une section “a retenir”. Détaillée et intéressante – comme toutes les oeuvres de Arnaud Filleul – pourtant cette oeuvre n’est pas notre favorite de cet auteur. Notre avis est que, voulant décrire trop de poissons (allant du grand requin blanc au baracuda et du sprat à la sardine), l’auteur n’a pas eu le temps de réellement approfindir sur le sujet des poissons Français/Européens. Cet ouvrage reste intéressant, certes, mais il y manque entre-autres (d’après mon opinion personelle) une clé de détermination rapide et efficace destiné au pêcheur (Français). Le pêcheur débutant trouvera certainement nombre d’informations pratiques et intéressantes, le pêcheur averti trouvera a s’y divertir sans plus. Pourtant je garderai cette oeuvre avec plaisir dans ma bibliothèque et au besoin j’y trouverai peut-être réponse à certaines de mes questions.

Dit kennisdocument is zeker de moeite waard om te lezen voor ieder die graag meer weet over de baars en zijn situatie in Nederland. Dit document uit 2007 bevat nog enkele “hiaten” die ondertussen gedeeltelijk opgevuld zijn (hiervoor verwijzen we o.a. naar recente Franse en Engelse boeken en onderzoeksrapporten), maar het blijft een gemakkelijk te lezen en interessante tekst die ook voor de sportvisser interessant is.
